Years ago, a woman told my wife that I should come out of the legal system because it was a system of Babylon. God had led me to be a lawyer. This woman’s suggestion did not sit with us and I am still a lawyer. The Word says in Rev. 18:4, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” The woman’s advice makes sense because this scripture is straight forward. However, I believe the admonition is for a time yet to come.
Judah’s exile to Babylon was God’s judgment for their sin. God declared through Jeremiah the prophet that their time of judgment/exile would be 70 years. Today, the world is under God’s judgment and has been placed under the yoke of Mystery Babylon for the season of our judgment. We are under the yoke of Mystery Babylon by God’s will until the time of judgment is completed. We will then rejoice when Babylon falls as prophesied in Revelation 18. Our society has been taken captive by Mystery Babylon. The following are examples: government, banking system, credit system, commerce system, legal system, health system, educational systems, religious systems, etc. The explanation of Mystery Babylon is beyond the scope of this article but should be explored.
The false prophets were telling the exiles of Judah that the exile was going to be temporary and they should be prepared to go back to Judah. However, in Jeremiah 29, Jeremiah wrote a letter to the exiles telling them to
Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters — that you may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.
He was telling them to submit to the captivity because it was God’s doing. They were not going back until God’s time of 70 years was complete. They were to LIVE in Babylon until God removed the yoke of judgment. We likewise need to be content living in Mystery Babylon until God removes the yoke.
When I began to learn the truth of the Mystery Babylon, I became angry. Many “teachers” and authors play upon people’s emotions of anger as they expose the corruption and lies foisted upon us. Once I learned that the captivity was God’s will, I quit being angry and accepted it, trusting that God would protect and even prosper us through the captivity.
Now when the time comes to leave Babylon, we must be ready to leave. We cannot grow to love Babylon because Babylon will be judged. At the end of the 70 years when it was time to go back to Judah, only a remnant went back. The majority of the captives grew to love Babylon and did not want to leave. When the time comes, we must be ready and willing to come out of Babylon.
Daniel served the king of Babylon. He worked in the government that held his people in captivity. Was it wrong for him to serve the king? Was it wrong to work in the government? Of course not. In fact, God prospered Daniel. But Daniel never forgot his homeland — his inheritance as a Judahite. Daily he prayed toward Jerusalem. When the 70 years were up, he repented on behalf of his people and prayed for the return to Judah. He faithfully served the king with integrity while constantly remembering his God. This is how we should live. I work in the legal system even though it is more Babylonian than Biblical. The system is filled with injustices. One day God will overthrow our legal system and institute his system of justice and mercy. I need to watch and be willing to come out of it when the time comes. I cannot love my profession more than my God.
Our current banking system is based on debt and is totally corrupt. One day the system will be judged, but until then we have to participate in it. It is futile to fight against the system since God subjected us to it.
Toward the end of Daniel’s life, God gave him visions of the end of the days and their interpretations. Daniel became upset and sick because of their terribleness. After God explained the visions, He told Daniel, “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.” When we totally trust God to take care of us, we can enter His rest. We can be at rest while living under the yoke of Babylon like Daniel. He suffered. He wasn’t free. He was probably made a eunuch. But he died at rest with the promise of rising to his inheritance at the end of the days.
The important thing is to know God’s voice and to obey Him. If He tells you to come out of a system, come out. If He tells you to stay in, stay in. We answer to Him, not to the person down the street or in our church. Personally, God has called us out of some of the systems such as the medical system and the educational system. When the time comes to come out of Babylon, we must be ready and obedient. But until then, be wary of the “prophet” who tells you to come out before God removes the yoke of judgment.
