God is in Control

A friend recently forwarded to me an e-mail describing how the “elite” rulers of our country were planning to take all our property from us using oil and debt.  The article concluded with the recommendation for us to plant a garden because the “elite” was going to crash our agricultural system.  The article was designed to produce fear and anger presumably to prompt the reader into action against the “elite.”

However, as I read the article, Proverbs 26:27 came to mind:

Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him.

There are wicked people who desire to control others and steal their property.  That is human nature.  I’m sure some of the conspiracy theories being circulated are true.  But it does not matter.  I am not afraid because I know my God is in control.  As it says in Psalm 2:4, “He who sits in the heavens shall laugh…”  It does not matter what the “kings” and “rulers” plot, because God’s justice will prevail.  The meek shall inherit the earth, not the wicked.

If you are tempted to worry about the schemes of wicked men, consider the following verses.

Prov 14:11a — The house of the wicked will be overthrown.

Prov 13:11a — Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished.

Prov 3:33a — The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked.

Prov 27:27 — Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him.

Psalm 37:1-2 — Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

I am careful when I hear or read bad reports about what “they” are doing to us.  The facts contained in these reports may be true, but their conclusions are usually wrong.  We need to be like Joshua and Caleb who observed the same facts as the other 10 spies but chose to believe God.  They were not dismayed over the giants.  They knew what God said the outcome would be and chose not to be afraid.

It does not matter how wicked the wicked are acting.  God will deal with them.  We must choose to believe what God says He will do to the wicked.

Do not be dismayed at the evil reports you hear.  God is in control!
